Committees List

These are the committees defined within Tripoli Rocketry Association. Click the view members link or the committee name to see a list of committee members. Prefects
The Tripoli Rocketry Association is made up of "Prefectures." These are local groups geographically, that organizes meetings, events and launches for the benefits of their members and those from other prefectures. The head of a Prefecture is called a Prefect. This is usually the one responsible for the formation of the Prefecture. It could be the local President, or a designated member. The Prefect must be a responsible person, 21 or older, been a member of Tripoli Rocketry Association for at least 1 current and continuous year, and Certified Level 2 or greater with the Tripoli Rocketry Association, Inc.
Technical Advisory Panel
This policy is intended to implement the approved Tripoli Rocketry Association (TRA) Board "Motion for establishment of a Technical Advisor Panel for M, N and O total impulse class rockets". This policy will become part of the Tripoli Handbook and provides guidance to Tripoli Prefectures and individuals participating in High Power Rocketry (HPR).
Class 3 Review Committee
The Class 3 Review Committee performs reviews of all Tripoli Member Class 3 flights to be submitted to the FAA AST for approval, as well as all flights projected to an altitude of over 100,000', regardless of total impulse.
To promote the safe practices of the Tripoli Rocketry Association in educational related rocketry activities and competitions.
Election Committee
The committee shall solicit candidates and oversee the balloting process for the annual election of directors. The committee shall handle the ballot process for election of members of the board of directors. The committee shall consist of three natural person voting members of the corporation. No director or nominee may serve on the election committee.
The Tripoli IT committee is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the technological infrastructure of the corporation.
The committee shall publish the official newsletter of the association, publish research and technical reports, develop and publish educational and training materials, and publish other documents required for and by the corporation, as directed by the board of directors.
Research Committee
The purpose of the Tripoli Research Committee is to foster the research and development of propulsion, payloads, electronics, recovery devices, air frame design, and construction materials.
The Tripoli Motor Testing Committee (TMT) is responsible for conducting testing and certification of hobby rocket motors.
The Lifetime Membership committee is responsible for selecting deserving Tripoli Members for Lifetime Memberships.
The Insurance Committee is charged with the management of our insurance arrangements including our Members Public Liability policy as well as other polices deemed necessary by the Board of Directors.
Contests and Records Committee
The Tripoli Contests and Records Committee is responsible for overseeing rules and guidelines for Tripoli flight records.
Board of Directors
Tripoli leadership consists of a board of nine Directors, with each director elected by the members for a term of three years. Each year three Directors are elected, this allows the board to continue its work and permit progressive renewal of the board over a series of years. Additionally to the Board there are a number of standing committees, these encompass a number of functions within Tripoli and all report back to the Board of Directors. Each committee also has a Board member on the committee to act as a liaison between the Board and the day to day activities of the respective committee.
Erik Gates Scholarship Committee
The Gates Scholarship Committee administers the annual application and award process for the scholarship.
