This year's selection of the winner of the Erik Gates Memorial Scholarship was particularly challenging. Not only were there more applicants than ever before, but there were also a number of truly outstanding applicants. It took the committee several passes through the applications just to narrow the field somewhat.

This year's scholarship awardee has demonstrated a broad range of excellence in academics, in sports, and in civic activities and community involvement. He is a graduate of North High School in Downers Grove, Illinois. During his time in high school he was Captain of the Scholastic Bowl and a member of the National Technical Honor Society, the North High All Academic Team, FBLA, Marching Band, the swim team, and the golf team, as well as participating in numerous other activities. His score on the ACT was in the top 1% of all students who take that examination. Although living in Illinois he is a member of Tripoli Pittsburgh and has earned his Level 1 certification. He will attend Purdue University this fall, majoring in Engineering. Our heartiest congratulations go out to Jeremiah Pike, this year's winner of the Gates Scholarship!
